My finished piece

Updated: Apr 28, 2022

Welcome back!! So I have completed my final piece...Here it is.

As of right now, I have completed my first piece of the four in my series. I am pretty proud of how well it turned out, considering that I missed out on a couple of days of work. My planning for my project did not really differ from my final piece, I like to create solid ideas and sketches and basically go off of that. When creating my piece I did run into the issue of mixing the paint into the ideal colors I wanted; however, the colors came out very vibrant and very well. It also did take a lot of time to create the wispy lines as well. Overall, I am extremely happy with the outcome of this piece and am excited to continue on to my next piece.

Onto my next piece: Twin Flame

A twin flame, essentially a soul connection. Another term for this is a “mirror soul” or a “person's other half.” Twin flames are generally described as two individuals who very intensely connect, usually as a romantic partner, because of shared pain. For this piece, I really want to represent the idea of a "mirror soul." To implement that idea I placed the figures facing each other to create the image and feeling of a mirror effect, but I flipped the woman on the left to create a yin yang effect.

This is my sketch so far ^ ^

As for the colors I wanted to stick to the idea of keeping the colors warm, representing a flame. However, I did add some pink into my design to create a sense of unity with my previous piece "Soul Ties." I have also decided that I am going to try to implement the wispy lines in the rest of my series to also connect them all together.

Artist Inspo

Fred Hatt

https://fredhatt.com Fred hat is an artist that creates art with movement, rhythm, and feeling. As an artist myself I find myself working in a similar way with the idea of movement within my pieces. His work is very interesting, and looking at it you can see that each mark he makes has a purpose. He talks about how drawing can record something that photography can not, being the movement of perception of time. The idea of creating energy through the strokes in the art to convey a feeling of energy to the viewer is something I hope to be able to provoke in people in my art as well.

Overall, I am excited about this next piece :D

Your linework is so clean and I love the colors!! I like the subtle details mixed with the complex shapes and lines coming from the two people. I was wondering, will you do pieces with body parts onward into the rest of the artworks or will it consist of two portraits?
