Final Blog & Fifth Piece:,)

Welcome back to my blog. This is officially the final post about this series...finally.

Here is what you have all been waiting for... The final fourth piece :

This piece ended up taking a while due to the media I chose.. probably should not have started so late. Anyway, I think it turned out pretty well. I had little to no motivation to even get started on this piece, so I am proud of myself that I was able to push through and complete it. It was super difficult figuring out where to start, so I actually printed out my sketch to the size of my board to be able to get an idea of where I was going to begin. The process of creating this was actually a bit difficult. After I printed the image I began scraping and outlining into the board so I could basically have a jumping-off point. I kind of made it like connect the dots, however, I may have carved the holes too deep so unfortunately, they are visible. I think it adds texture and character to my piece.

Overall, this was very tedious and time-consuming. Do I regret choosing scratchboard at the last minute? maybe... but that's not the point, because I finished it anyway! :)

I am also a bit sad about the accidental scrape marks i made but i think i will end up going over them with ink later.

REFLECTION

Throughout these past couple of months, I have probably produced the most art I ever have, and ultimately I feel very drained. However, I do feel good about being able to push myself to accomplish completing all four works. I think I ended up straying away from my initial ideas as I got further into my project. I think that happened because I was stressed, and basically just feeling creatively burnt out. Although, I am pretty happy with how this series turned out. I pushed myself to explore new media, create larger pieces, and push myself creatively. I think I learned a lot about myself and my work ethic from this project, and how breaks are very necessary. I also learned how vital feedback from others can be. I was struggling with the color choice of my third piece a lot and my group was able to help me find the perfect color to really perfect my piece.

In the beginning, I was very excited to start working and I had so many ideas in mind. I am actually very happy I chose the theme Spiritual Relationships because it gave me leeway to be able to create some very abstract pieces. Spirituality is also something I am just genuinely interested in, so if you decided to one day create a series of your own do something you are passionate about! I think that is one of the reasons why I kept pushing myself so hard. I think my art fits into the category of surrealism and how the idea is to balance a rational vision of life with one that asserts the power of the unconscious and dreams. I think contemporary surrealism is very expressive and gives the artist much room to show themselves in the art.

Overall, this project was challenging, but I was able to complete it and generate some well-thought-out pieces I am proud of. I think my pieces do look different than I how I initially planned, but that is the beautiful part. I think they all tell their own story and all can fit in as a whole.

Well, that is the end of this series and this blog. Thank you for checking out my work and I hope I was able to inspire at least one of you that decided to view my art!
